WHOLE BOAT & TECHNICAL DOCUMENT ENGINEER - Keynsham
Salary £28,430 - £38,570   dependent upon experience and qualifications

Within the SSMG Design Services Group (DSG), the Whole Boat and Technical Document Engineer (WBTDE) reports directly to the Whole Boat and Technical Document Team Leader and is responsible for the management and conduct of a range of technical tasks associated with platform wide design, safety, process and documentation issues on RN submarines.

The WBTDE will provide engineering support to cross-DA tasking such as submarine Life Extension studies together with engineering technical knowledge in the update of documentation.

The update of technical documentation has been identified as a key aspect of the new SSMG contract and the post offers the opportunity to develop project and man management skills working on technical tasks within a multi-disciplined department.

Tasks include the production and review of technical reports and specifications, sub-contractor management and customer liaison. This may include the supervision of junior staff and developing task opportunities with the customer.

The applicant will be degree qualified in a relevant engineering based discipline or HND/HNC qualified, with appropriate technical or design support experience. Experience of MoD working practices or familiarity with submarine design, operation and support would be of benefit.
