CONSTRUCTIVE ENGINEER - Abbey Wood
Salary £28,430 - £38,570   dependent upon experience and qualifications

Based in MoD Abbey Wood, Bristol , the Constructive Engineer will be responsible for the management and conduct of a wide range of technical tasks associated with submarine Naval Architecture, structure and escape, rescue and abandonment on RN submarines.

Within the SSMG Design Services Group (DSG), the Constructive Engineer reports to the Constructive Team Leader and is responsible for tasks primarily associated with Naval Architecture and structural investigation, analysis and design change with work also being conducted to enhance RN submarine escape, rescue and abandonment capability, maintain and improve submarine signature characteristics and provide submarine decommissioning support. This will include the management of each task through to client acceptance/final close out and delivery.

The successful applicant will be capable of developing technical solutions to engineering problems, including identifying programme, technical and safety risks and contributing to design and safety reviews. They will possess the ability to conduct technical tasks to time and cost, working flexibly and under minimal day-to-day supervision. They will be required to deal with MoD clients and sub-contractor representatives and should be able to communicate at an appropriate level.

The applicant should be Degree qualified in an appropriate discipline or HND/HNC qualified with relevant experience. Knowledge of MoD working practices, the production of technical reports, familiarity with submarine design and construction and the operational aspects of submarine support will be of benefit.
